Born in the Deep South, 'baptized and saved' by the music at the age of 5, and never looked back. Musician, Music Industry Professional, Store Owner, St. Louis Hall of Fame Radio DJ, Promoter, Journalist, Record Label Owner, known in music circles as The Soul Selector.
Each episode will feature interviews with an independent record store owner about the history of their store, customer demographics, the music that they specialize in selling, their favorite in-stores, favorite employee stories and of course, what was their first LP?
Jeff Tweedy of Wilco, Yo Gabba Gabba's DJ Lance, LA Music Critic Randall Roberts to name a few. Each indie store has a list of memorable past and present employees that work at indie record stores for the love of music, and definitely not for the money.
Every show will have interviews and musical insights of Indie bands, along with national acts that come to town. Vintage Vinyl has had the pleasure of hosting national acts such as Mumford & Sons, Dierks Bentley, Jason Isbell, Widespread Panic, Jason Mraz, Jack Black & Tenacious D, Billy Bob Thornton, Black Eyed Peas, Marilyn Manson, Lamb of God, Queens of the Stone Age, to name a few. AND we love having local burgeoning Indie bands such as Jeremiah Johnson, The Rum Drum Ramblers, Bruiser Queen, and our own local 'School of Rock' play at the store.
Each episode begins and ends with entertaining 'First Album' sequence along with dialogue with Record Store Day fans, customers and general music lovers.
