Known as Music City, in the Country Music industry, Nashville’s best record store is GRIMEY’S. No IFS, ANDS, OR BUTS. What better way to get in contact with Nashville’s music community than touching base with Doyle Davis and his veteran crew. Along with the corporate music industry, there is an undeniable independent music scene. With Nashville’s best record store (and Ms. Taylor Swift’s favorite) - We’ll have our cameras on everything, including an amazing 'trip down memory lane' when Metallica decided to do a concert in Grimey's basement. Or Nashville journey didn't end there ---we then went to Vinyl Tap, and Jack White's Third Man Records. We definitely need to go back ---and we will.
Papa Ray visits with Eric Levin of Criminal Records and interviews local customers and musicians associated with this alternative music oasis in the heart of the ‘Five Points District’ of the city. The hipster city of Portland, Oregon is the home of no less than twenty independent record shops. The unquestioned leader is Terry Currier’s MUSIC MILLENIUM, a sprawling authoritative garden of musical delights. We’re also going to visit several newer stores such as LANDFILL RESCUE UNIT and EXILED RECORDS. We were lucky to run into our dear friend, the Great Curtis Salgado.

Just in case you haven't heard of 'The Blues Brother's' - AND, just in case you didn't know that Curtis was John Belushi's 'JOLIET' JAKE BLUES' for the movie and skits on Saturday Night Live - -- Curtis Salgado is a Portland, Oregon-based blues, blues rock, and blue-eyed soul singer-songwriter. He plays harmonica and fronts his own band as lead vocalist.
The city that gave the world the genre of grunge, is also the site of some vibrant record stores such EASY STREET RECORDS & CAFE, SONIC BOOM RECORDS, DAYBREAK RECORDS, and JIVE TIME RECORDS. Seattle is also the home of the crucial independent record labels such as, Light in the Attic Records, Sub Pop, and Mass Line.
Tom and Vintage Vinyl have a unique relationship with one of the finest record stores in New Orleans, EUCLID RECORDS. Learn about their history, as we also visit other stellar independent shops, such as DOMINO SOUND RECORD SHACK.

The Roadshow will showcase how the vast history of recorded music is the musical basis for Hip Hop, and how the pioneers of Rap found the beats, breaks, and inspiration for a new musical form previously recorded on vinyl, and now a world-wide planetary sound.
